if the world actually ends this year maybe i'll come up with a punnier title.

to put it in perspective, i went to a girl's school and in my year level out of about 200 girls, it was obvious to me that about 5-10 girls had some form of eating disorder.

*not to suggest that males can't suffer from eating disorders

da but that's a lot. i only knew one person in my year who suffered from one and my class size was about the same.

oh yeah? it might have just been my year level but there were a couple of girls either refusing to eat anything at lunch or i could visibly see thinning away in a way that i knew wasn't healthy.

dda but it's probably more prevalent in girls' schools. i went to one and in my class alone there were four, it's been years since i graduated and apparently one of them still hasn't recovered

ayrt and why would it be more prevalent in girl's schools though? i assumed that it would be more problematic in an environment where girls might feel the need to be validated by guys.

anon from below. being in uni and discussing coed and single sex schools, i've gathered that being in a girls' school increases the likelihoood of developing eating disorders. i remember some of the kids in my uni class getting really shocked when i explained how many girls actually had some kind of ED at my school.

yes i would think it'd be more prevalent in girls' schools too.

so i dunno, when i compare it to idol world, if you have that vulnerable mind set and placed in a group surrounded by girls who are constantly talking about their weight and how they have to look it's got to do something to your head.
